Why 12th January?
After a decision was made that we should celebrate Dharmaj Day it was necessary to select an appropriate date on which Dharmaj Day will be celebrated.
Normally Dharmajians from abroad visit India in December and January. Since many are busy up to 31st December because in the western countries
Christmas is celebrated during those days. So for businessmen and professionals it is more convenient to find time in January to visit the homeland.
12th January being the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand who is known as ambassador of Indian culture was considered the most suitable for Dharmaj Day.
This day is also observed as National Youth Day all over India. Moreover Uttarayan (Makar Sankranti) is celebrated in Gujarat on 14th January by flying kites.
Local schools & colleges also observe holiday. So the young from the visiting Dharmajians will have benefit of enjoying kite flying. Moreover during January
the weather is pleasant. Hence finally the first Dharmaj Day was celebrated on 12th January 2007.

Though 12th January is not the Foundation Day of Dharmaj town, its celebration every year on that definite date has become very important occasion for all Dharmajians.
Now residents of Dharmaj as well as Dharmajians settled elsewhere look forward eagerly to 12th January. Inspired by this example other towns have also started
celebrating their own day which is indicative of the success of the Dharmaj Day.
